DO I NEED TO LIVE IN A SPECIFIC REGION?

No. As a regional manager, your role is pivotal in ensuring the smooth running of these programs, even if you don't live in the specific locations you manage.
Responsibilities Overview:

1. Overseeing Operations: You will manage exchange operations for several locations, cities, or states. This means coordinating with various groups based on their location to ensure everything runs smoothly.
2. Performance Updates: Keeping track of area representative performance is crucial. You will be responsible for providing updates on how well each group within your region is doing.
3. Enforcing Policies: You will enforce program policies for individuals representing the student exchange program within your jurisdiction. This ensures that everyone adheres to the established guidelines and maintains the program's integrity.

WHAT IS THE COMPENSATION?

As an independent contractor, it is important to understand that you are responsible for managing your own region. Independent contractors are not eligible for benefits. This means that SMG/ISE is not responsible for providing typical employee benefits such as insurance, pension plans, paid vacation, sick days, or disability insurance.

WHO WILL I REPORT TO?

Report to the National Office:  Field reporting to the National Office is paramount for the safety and welfare of our students. Your timely updates on host family placements and student adjustment issues provide crucial data. This information supports SMG, its affiliates, and overseas partners in understanding regional conditions and making informed decisions to better support you and your Area Representative team.

WHAT TYPE OF TRAINING WILL I RECEIVE?

​We want to ensure regional managers feel supported when training their staff. 
Regional managers face challenges in providing immediate one-on-one mentorship, especially when overseeing staff across multiple states. To address this, we sought a solution that ensures both managers and their representatives receive timely and effective training support. This initiative aims to bridge the training gap, offering necessary assistance precisely when required.

The Synapse Solution
After coordinating between different departments and regions, we had decided on our training needs and curriculum. The focus was on enriching existing training practices to include digital options that would help field members with onboarding, job performance, and everything in between.
The path towards creating and deploying the training courses became clear, and would look something like this:

• HQ would work with other departments to gather the information and content needed for each training
• The training would be structured and blueprinted through Synapse
• The training would be deployed and promoted to all team members in one central online location

The Results
Once the courses were created through Synapse, they were easily deployed to “The Toolbox”.  The toolbox is a new online repository for learning.   It could be accessed easily at all levels of the organization.
As a result of this new digital option, we have seen an increase of 80% in course use in three months.
Not only was on-demand training now more readily available for reps, but it could be updated at the click of a button. We can now quickly update courses on Synapse.  By refreshing the link, the training is automatically updated in The Toolbox.  That keeps everyone in the loop.

What It Means for Our Field Staff
With the new advancements in our training, field staff members will be able to learn the skills they need to succeed at their own pace and on their own schedule. This training will empower our representatives and allow them to recruit more host families, place more students, and help more dreams come true. Increasing the number of placements means reps are eligible for increased bonuses. It also makes them eligible for spots on our annual Celebration of Success trip

WILL I RECEIVE NATIONAL SUPPORT WITH STUDENT ISSUES?

SMG and its affiliates offer robust support for host families and students, ensuring a positive exchange experience. Key features include:

• 24-Hour Emergency Line: Available for immediate assistance.
• Student Counselors/Facilitators: On hand to provide continuous support.
• Full-Time Staff: Dedicated to addressing any concerns.
• Preventive Measures: Materials, orientations, and resources provided to prevent issues..
• Immediate Action: National Office intervention for unmanageable problems.

This comprehensive support system aims to foster a successful and enriching exchange experience for all participants.
